Interview with Twilight Star Peter Facinelli

ReelzChannel sat down recently with Peter Facinelli to talk about Twilight, the movie version of the best-selling vampire book series, in which he plays Dr. Carlisle Cullen.

ReelzChannel: We are so excited because you're going to be in Twilight -- it's a movie we're very excited about.

Facinelli: I am very excited about Twilight, myself. I am hoping that it does really well and we can make more movies.

RC: Tell us about your role -- you're the paternal figure of the vampires, correct?

Facinelli: Yeah, I play Dr. Carlisle Cullen, who is the father figure and head of this Cullen family. He's been around for awhile -- I think over 300 years.

RC: So you play a vampire. What is a vampire doing here?

Facinelli: He's nocturnal...so you know, the sun is down, Dr. Carlisle is out to play.

RC: Have you been aware of the tremendous buzz this movie is getting?

Facinelli: The fans have really turned out on this one and they've been fantastic. We've got great support from them, and responses. I hope that they enjoy the movie. I'm excited for it to come out.

RC: How was filming the movie?

Facinelli: The weather was not always on our side, but we weathered through it. I think we got some really great stuff. And Catherine [Hardwicke] has been fantastic -- the director. I think she put together a really nice piece. I think the fans will like it.

RC: There are millions of fans logging onto websites and posting stuff about the movie on YouTube. Why do you think it's been getting such a huge following?

Facinelli: You know, it all stems from the books. The fans really love the books and they're excited to see this book turned into a movie that they can go and see. We owe all the buzz credit to Stephenie Meyer, the writer of the book.

RC: Did you have to get a little pale for the movie? You play a vampire, obviously.

Facinelli: I did. I did have to put on a bit of pale makeup -- but not much because one of the [contract] stipulations was "do not go in the sun." We had a strict orders to not go in the sun. I think it was the palest I've ever been. And then a little bit of makeup helped out, too.

RC: So you play the father of how many vampires?

Facinelli: Wow, let me see. It's a big family so I have to count. Let's see -- one, two, three, four, five...five.

RC: You're the proud father of five vampires. Do you have a favorite?

    Facinelli: I do. I do have a favorite but I can't tell.

RC: I think we will guess on that one. Each of you have a different, distinct power or ability. What is your character's?

Facinelli: His compassion. He's a very compassionate person, and he has a great understanding and a great knowledge -- so that's what his stems from. But you know, they all have vampire speed, which is kind of like super speed, and stuff like that. So 300 years of knowledge is what he brings to the table.

RC: Anything else you would like to add about Twilight?

Facinelli: No. Just go see it -- I'm Peter Facinelli and my favorite movie is Twilight because I'm in it.
